The telecom company Bharti Airtel launches 4G facility first time in Banglore in collaboration with Apple corporation.
Besides, heavy data users can avail the new 4G plan giving customers 10 GB 4G data for Rs 1,000. While data browsing will be on 4G network, voice calls will be routed on 2G/3G seamlessly with the CSFB (circuit switched fall back) technology, Airtel said.
Other operators like Reliance Jio and Videcon and Idea are expected to launch 4G services in 2014 in the country.

Airtel customers in Bangalore on Apple iPhone 5s or 5c will be able to experience 4G on their mobile at the current 3G prices. Airtel is the first operator to launch 4G for the first time in the country, which has already launched in Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune and Chandigarh. Soon going to extend its service to whole country.
"Customers have to just change their existing SIM to a 4G SIM to start enjoying 4G on mobile without any need to migrate from their existing data plan," it said. And soon it will bring 4G service across the country (added).

Facebook to bring New Ways of using Smartphone
Facebook is rolling out a new payments feature that will let you easily charge items to your credit card while shopping on your smartphone, Facebook has confirmed to Business Insider.
The feature is called "Autofill with Facebook" and it's starting to roll out to a small number of users on Monday evening, as first reported by AllThingsD's Mike Isaac.
Essentially, the feature will allow a user of retail site's mobile app to automatically fill in credit card information with a drop-down menu, if that credit card info is stored on Facebook.
Update: Facebook has clarified that this is not an addition to Facebook's mobile app, but a feature that retail stores and app developers can build into their own apps.
There's been a lot of speculation about what Facebook's new payments product would be and if it would compete with PayPal. This new feature will not compete.
Quite the contrary, Facebook Autofill will work with PayPal, as well as Braintree and Stripe.
The feature is supposed to be a way to make it easier to shop on a smartphone. Those tiny screens don't make it easy to enter credit card data.
Even though the feature is supposed to go live in the wild as of tonight, it is expected be a small test, so chances are you won't see it unless you use the two apps currently testing it, JackThread and Mosaic, and your credit card info is stored on Facebook.

"We are working on a mobile payments test called Autofill with Facebook that gives people the option to use their payment information already stored on Facebook to populate the payment form when they make a purchase in a mobile app. The app then processes and completes the payment. The test is designed to make it easier and faster for people to make a purchase in a mobile app by simply pre-populating your payment information. Today we started publicly testing Autofill with Facebook on two iOS apps – JackThread and Mosaic. These integrations will start slowly rolling out to people this week."

The man responsible for groundbreaking work in noise reduction and inventing surround sound has passed away at age 80.
Sound visionary and founder of Dolby Laboratories Ray Dolby died Thursday at his home in San Francisco. He was 80.
The company said that Dolby had been living with Alzheimer's disease in recent years and was diagnosed with acute leukemia in July.
Dolby is credited with revolutionizing how people experience sound with his multitude of audio technology inventions. Besides his pioneering work in noise reduction, Dolby also invented surround sound. He held more than 50 US patents.
"Today we lost a friend, mentor and true visionary," Dolby Laboratories President and CEO Kevin Yeaman said in a statement. "Ray Dolby founded the company based on a commitment to creating value through innovation and an impassioned belief that if you invested in people and gave them the tools for success they would create great things. Ray's ideals will continue to be a source of inspiration and motivation for us all."
Dolby founded Dolby Laboratories in 1965 after working as a United Nations adviser in India. He is originally from Portland, Ore. In his early years, he attended both Stanford University and Cambridge University and worked at Ampex as the chief designer of all electronic aspects of the first videotape recording system.
At Dolby Laboratories, Dolby fostered an environment where engineers worked to advance the science of sound and come up with new ideas to make acoustics more engaging. Today, thousands of films and billions of devices use Dolby technology to enhance sound. Recording artists and filmmakers also use Dolby L
aboratories' inventions and tools to enliven their creations.
"Though he was an engineer at heart, my father's achievements in technology grew out of a love of music and the arts," said Dolby's son Tom Dolby, who is a filmmaker and novelist. "He brought his appreciation of the artistic process to all of his work in film and audio recording."
Over the course of his lifetime, Dolby was awarded the National Medal of Technology from President Bill Clinton, the Order of Officer of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II, several Oscar, Emmy, and film festival awards, and more. He was also inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in the US and the Royal Academy of Engineers in the UK in 2004. Since its inception, Dolby Laboratories has also been awarded 10 Academy Awards and 13 Emmy Awards.
Despite his achievements, Dolby was not a boastful man. He was once quoted as saying, "I was never a gold-digger, or an Oscar-digger, or anything like that. I just had an instinct about the right sort of things that should be done in my business. So all these things just fell into place."
Dolby is survived by his wife, Dagmar, his sons, Tom and David, their spouses, and four grandchildren.
"My father was a thoughtful, patient and loving man, determined to always do the right thing in business, philanthropy, and as a husband and father," Dolby's son David Dolby, who is member of Dolby Laboratories' Board of Directors, said. "Our family is very proud of his achievements and leadership. He will be sorely missed, but his legacy of innovation will live on."

NEW DELHI: If Apple enters the gaming industry, it will conquer the segment and destroy current big-wigs like Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo, said Nat Brown, one of the founders of Xbox console. In a post on his blog, Brown called Sony and Nintendo stumbling failures and said Microsoft has failed to capitalise on innovations like Kinect. Slamming Microsoft, he wrote, "Apple will simply kill Playstation, Wii-U and Xbox by introducing an open 30%-cut app/game ecosystem for Apple-TV."

Windows 8 is finally here. I just upgraded my Windows 7 desktop to Windows 8 and the process couldn’t be smoother.
All the existing software programs work just fine in Windows 8 and the built-in Windows Store offers a plethora of new full-screen “apps” to choose from. Desktop search is so much better in Windows 8, the UI feels more snappy and the system will boot faster. You don’t need to install a separate anti-virus program as Windows Defender is already included in Windows 8.
If you haven’t played with the Windows 8 beta versions earlier, it may take a day or two to get comfortable with the new layout but overall, Windows 8 is a must-have upgrade.

Upgrading to Windows 8 – Step by Step
If you are also planning to make the switch to Windows 8 this weekend, here are 3 things you would need:
A Windows machine running Windows 7, Vista and Windows XP. It doesn’t matter if you have computer is running Windows XP Premium or Windows 7 Home Basic.
A valid credit card or a PayPal account to pay the upgrade fee – you will be required to pay $39.99 for the Windows 8 Professional edition.
An internet connection for downloading the Windows 8 installer (2.05 GB). You may also order the Windows 8 installer on a DVD though it may not be necessary as it is quite easy to create your own Windows 8 DVD.
Please note that you are opting for an “upgrade” so it will overwrite your existing copy of Windows and there’s no way you can uninstall Windows 8 to switch to the previous Windows installation.
Also, your existing software programs will only be preserved if you are moving from Windows 7 to Windows 8. If your current PC is running Windows XP or Vista, all your files and data will be preserved but you will have to reinstall the software apps after upgrading to Windows 8.
Ready? Here’s how may upgrade your computer to Windows 8.
First download and run the Upgrade Assistant program. This will essentially perform a few checks on your computer and will also suggest a list of software programs / hardware devices that may not be compatible with Windows 8.
Next you need to order your Windows 8 upgrade pack right inside the installation wizard. Choose the “Checkout” option, enter your Credit Card details and the next screen will show your Windows 8 product key that you may need at the time of installation. You don’t have to write then down on paper and Microsoft will also send a receipt of your order and the Windows serial number to your email address.
Important: What you are buying is the upgrade license that will only work on an existing Windows machine. You cannot use this Windows 8 license on a new machine that you could be building from scratch. If you wish to install Windows 8 from scratch on a new hard disk, you need the System Builder that may not be available at all locations.
The upgrade assistant will now download the Windows 8 installer files to your computer. This process may take a while since it will require the transfer of ~2 GB of data from Microsoft servers to your disk.
Tip: The Windows 8 installer files are stored in the C:\ESD\Windows\Sources folder – it’s hidden so you may not find it inside Windows Explorer.
Once the installer files have been downloaded, you can continue with the installation or you may pick the second option that says – “Install by creating media.” Here you can save the Windows 8 installer files in a single ISO file and then, from the wizard itself, burn the ISO image into a bootable DVD. This may come handy later when you want to repair or reinstall Windows 8 later but have deleted the installer from the disk to free up disk space.
Once the DVD is ready, double-click the Windows Setup shortcut (you’ll find it on your desktop) to run the setup again.
You can either do a clean install and choose “Nothing” or use the “Windows settings, personal files and apps” option to preserve your files as well as programs (recommended). Also, if you choose “Nothing,” your personal files (anything saved inside the User folder and on the desktop) will be moved to a windows.old folder.
Choose the first “Install Now” option and Windows 8 will finish installing itself. Simple!

In ascending to second place, Apple saw a 129 percent rise in its brand value since last year, the largest gain among all the brands on the list.

The research firm uses three factors:
Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs passed away almost a year ago, but Interbrand gave him the credit in "humanizing" the Apple brand and business.
Jobs wanted customers to "feel a certain way" when using an Apple product, visiting an Apple store, or surfing to the Apple Web site, according to Interbrand. He knew that a brand "connects a business with the hearts and minds of consumers."
Apple has continued to thrive despite the absence of Jobs, thanks in part to his "smooth transfer of power" and his planning for the future, Interbrand noted. Some reports say that Jobs left plans for four years' worth of Apple products after his passing.
"The market may move on if Apple's products cease being a differentiator of class, taste, or cool, but that doesn't appear to be happening any time soon," Interbrand added.
Apple has steadily risen up the Interbrand ranks, rising to No. 24 in 2009, No. 17 in 2010, and No. 8 last year. And what of other tech players on the list? There are quite a few.

After a leaky past couple of days, Samsung took the wraps off of its new Galaxy Camera today. The new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean camera features a 1/2.3″ 16MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor and a 21x optical zoom lens (23-480mm equivalent).
The backside of the camera is all touch screen with a 4.8″ LCD that shows off camera apps and widgets, as well as other Android-powered widgets. You can also use popular Android-based camera apps like Instagram with Galaxy Camera. (Hopefully, the coming onslaught of Android-powered point and shoot cameras like the Galaxy Camera and recently announced Nikon S800c will pave the way for a more robust camera app base in the Google Play Store.)
The Galaxy Camera also features Auto Cloud Backup, which saves images to Samsung’s AllShare portal as soon as they are taken. Additionally, ‘Share Shot’ allows images to be automatically shared on social networks as soon as they are taken. Samsung achieves this connectivity through WiFi and cellular connections over 3G and 4G network – separate 3G and 4G models will be available.
Expect to see the camera available in October; however, there’s no word yet on pricing.
